In a century past, mariners spent months away from home. While in the Caribbean port of Barbados, they would commission framed shell compositions in the shape of a heart to bring home to their patient brides. This is a replica of a 19th c. original that survived the years. A myriad exquisite “flowers” are intricately formed by hundreds of opalescent shells of all varieties.
